Amanda Coakley is an Associate Director at Milltown Partners working on tech policy.

She is an Aspen UK Tech and Innovation Ambassador (2026/2027) and an AI safety fellow at the AI Safety Initiative at Georgia Tech.

She has contributed to research and analysis on AI governance through work with the Centre for AI and Digital Policy, Arcadia Impact’s AI Governance Taskforce, and Carnegie Europe, focusing on national AI strategies, AI loss of control detection, and the economic implications of advanced AI systems.

Amanda was previously an award-winning and Emmy nominated journalist. Her reporting has appeared in outlets including TIME, The Guardian Long Read, CNN, and Foreign Policy, covering armed conflict in Ukraine and Nagorno-Karabakh, democratic backsliding, and the intersection of technology and politics.

She continues to write a column for World Politics Review on Central and Eastern European politics.

She is a graduate of University College Dublin, where she was an Ad Astra Scholar, and a member of the Europe’s Futures Initiative in Vienna.
