Amanda Coakley is an Associate Director at BB Partners, an award-winning advisory for future-focused organisations, and an AI Safety Fellow at the AI Safety Initiative, Georgia Tech.

She is also a columnist for World Politics Review writing monthly analysis on the forces reshaping global power, with a focus on the geopolitics of AI.

A former foreign correspondent, her writing on global affairs has appeared in The Guardian, Foreign Policy, Prospect, and TIME. She has covered conflicts in Ukraine and Nagorno-Karabakh which earned her an MHP International Affairs Reporting Award and the Piazza Grande Religion Journalism Award.

She began her career at CNN International where she was part of the team nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Breaking News Coverage in 2017.

A graduate of University College Dublin, where she was an Ad Astra Scholar, Amanda is a Europe’s Futures Fellow at the Institute for Human Science in Vienna and was named an Aspen UK Rising Leaders Fellow in 2024.
